MOPS: the 3 P's

MOPS - Mothers of Preschoolers. This is an amazing organization that has made an incredible difference in my life! I have been a mom for 16 years as of May 4th of this year! I found MOPS in 1998 when my two older kids were 4 & 2. My church started an evening group for working moms! Then I rejoined MOPS in 2007 just before the birth of my 4th child. It was absolutely a life saver. I found myself suddenly surrounded by other women going thru the same things I was. They shared my same passions, struggles, joys & worries! Recently the MOPS group I lead had the great honor to hear from Tracey Yukich who was on Season 8 of the Biggest Loser. Tracey is a mom of 4 like me. She devoted her life to her kids and her home. Putting her own health, dreams and needs last. I can so relate to Tracey! She started her talk by telling us that she explained what MOPS was to her husband by saying that they are MOMS of Prestige, Power & Purpose. They are MOMS of Preschoolers. Wow! Too often I just consider myself a mom - but now I realise I am a MOM of Prestige, MOM of Power & MOM of Purpose. I am a MOM of Prestige - God has gifted me and blessed me to be the mom of 4 great kids here on earth and allowed me the privilege to birth 3 babies into heaven before they were big enough for me to hold. I know that one day my family will be whole and together in heaven. I am a MOM of Power - power to raise great kids, power to influence them for good or for bad, power to protect them and the power to guide my kids. I am a MOM of Purpose - I need to live my life on Purpose - otherwise the chaos will take over so I work to be purposeful in all I do.

This year our theme for MOPS was "Life Together on Planet Mom." I do feel like I landed on a whole new planet when I became a mom. I am so grateful I don't have to "do" life alone! I have other Moms that I can go to with my joys and my sorrows. I can help them when they are down and they are there for me when I am down. Matthew 18:20 says " Where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." I am so grateful that I have Mom friends that are there with and pray for me. I would encourage everyone reading this to make sure you have other Godly women in your life that will feed into you and you need to find others to feed into. We are commanded to do life together! So go out there and find other women and do life!

Comparisions

Stressed, overwhelmed, tired, worried, sick kids, husband’s job unsteady, insecure, feels unworthy.

She has her stuff straight and I will look like a drama mama if I share my worries. They won't understand, they don't care, they’ve never been through this. their life is perfect. Everyone else is succeeding they have no worries. I bet they never go out without brushing their hair or putting on makeup! They are always positive and never complain. They are too spiritual and I know nothing or not enough.

Ever think these thoughts? I certainly do and imagine many of you do too. We often fall into a trap when we're feeling down about life, business, marriage, raising kids and others. Surely we are the only ones who know what is like right? REALLY?

The truth is more people around you and me are going through something similar. The past couple of months I feel like I am under attack. Not big life changing stuff (that all happened years ago with Taylor’s diagnosis and the loss of our babies to miscarriage) but little things: 4 sick kids, husband with a bad back, trying to lose weight and exercise but sick myself, stress with a busier than usual work and kid schedule and then my nephew’s recent diagnosis of diabetes.

But on the flip side of all the crazy borderline tough stuff – a friend that I have been sharing with and praying for, for 5 years is now asking questions and going to church and I am blessed to be able to see it! What do I have to complain about! God is great! He is mighty! He is bigger than my worries! He will use my struggles to make a difference in the lives of others if I will let him. My job on this earth is not to be the perfect mom, housekeeper, wife, friend, Realtor, daughter, teacher, leader and the list goes on of the many hats we wear. My job on this earth is to bring glory to God and show and share His love with everyone I come in contact with.

Recently our church body has been asked to share their “story”. I have spent many hours wondering how to condense all God has done in my life into a short “story” but ultimately until now I wasn’t sure where to start. I feel God has given me the gift of Faith as I have never questioned the existence or plan of God or God’s provision in my life. I just KNOW without a shadow of a doubt that He is there. He was there when I was making stupid mistakes as a teen & young person, He was there when I met my husband, when our son was born, our daughter, when our son was diagnosed with a life altering and shortening disease, He picked me up and carried me in his loving arms when we lost 3 babies to miscarriage and rejoiced with me when we birthed two more daughters. You see once I allowed Him to join me in this life it was for keeps. For good & bad, happy & sad.

I am completely and utterly blessed that He has brought incredible women to walk this path with me. Women who lift me up and encourage me and who I can do the same with.

Some of you may be going thru a time of evaluation in your life. Maybe you are questioning the choices you have made to become a mom, to leave a career or maybe to go back to one or start a new one. I would say where ever you are in this journey of life that you need a friend to walk it with you. God says in Ecclesiastes 4:10-11 (New International Version)

10 If one falls down,

his friend can help him up.

But pity the man who falls

and has no one to help him up!

11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.

But how can one keep warm alone?

The world tries to tell us that we can be and do it all! But without Christ we are nothing. Without friends we are weak. God put us together in the places we are so that we can help and encourage one another. So reach out to those around you. When you are hurting reach out and let us help you. Don’t do life alone.

Thank you to my Friend Teresa Lusk for inspiring me.

Who is the "Fetrow Team"?

The "Fetrow Team" actually refers to two groups of people.

The original Fetrow Team is my family. My husband Chris who is originally from Salem, Oregon, myself originally from Mount Vernon, Illinois, our son Taylor born in Landstuhl Army base, Germany, daughter Ashley born in Yuba City, California & daughters Caitlin & Courtney both born in Mckinney, Texas. As you can see our family team has traveled from and to many places to finally make McKinney, Texas our home. I grew up in a military family. So moving happened every 3-4 years. I understand the stresses and challenges associated with moving a family. Especially families with children. I moved 9 times living in 6 states and 2 countries. Since having a family of our own, Chris & I have moved 7 times, living in 3 different states and 2 countries.

The other "Fetrow Team" currently consists of Chris & I in our Real Estate Business. Currently we have the wonderful opportunity to mentor and train two brand new agents! They are working with us on learning the ropes of the business and may be helping some of our clients from time to time as needed. I am so excited that Christine Killen & Tammy Williams are working with us in a wonderful business. We also consider the owners of RE/MAX Four Corners as part of our team as they are instrumental in helping us be all that we can be - David & Gaylan Kraft. We are so blessed to be part of a great team that is lead by Christ following people.

If either of my "teams" can do anything to help you or someone you know please call (214)566-8277 or email us (stephanie@thefetrowteam.com)!

We love to serve others!

Amazed & in Awe!

Today my son told me that he was applying to be a part of Student Council at McKinney High School! This is my child that at one point wouldn't talk to anyone but his family and now he is stepping up to be a part of the group that leads out at the High School! I am so proud of how far he has come.

He also has such dreams and goals for his life despite the challenge he faces of Duchene Muscular Dystrophy. God has done such amazing things in his life.

I'm hoping my nephew some day has an amazing God story too. Just this past Monday while visiting my parents my nephew, Quentin, had a rapid onset of Type 1 diabetes. He was one very sick puppy. He was care flighted from the Sherman hospital to Dallas Children's and spent most of the day on Monday in the ER receiving continuous monitoring. My nephew accepted Christ last summer at VBS at my parents church. It was an amazing thing to see my dad baptise him in Lake Texoma. My prayer is that God will use this experience as part of "His" story. I also pray that this life change will bring my sister back to the church.

God can and will work in our lives - whether we want him to or not - the question is will you let him lead you? In letting God lead we can feel a great sense of relief knowing that He has his best planned for you and that this life we know is not the end but only the beginning.

My friend at "Laundry Woes" inspired me to blog tonight. It's the first blog I have done in a VERY long time and when I last blogged I hadn't done that many. But I think this will be the first of many to come.

McKinney Fire Department & Muscular Dystrophy Assocation

Last month our wonderful local heroes - McKinney Fire Department - participated in a great program to raise money for the MDA - Muscular Dystrophy Association. They raised $31,317,30!!!! Since our son Taylor is one of the kids that receives services from the MDA such as medical services, immunizations, medications, his scooter and other medical equipment they asked him to come help receive the check on behalf of the MDA. These guys were just awesome talking with Taylor and posing for a picture. We are so blessed that these guys gave up their time to stand on the street to collect money to support the MDA. Next time you have a few minutes do something to say thank you to our local heroes! Their dedication goes above & beyond the call of duty!
